PROJECT:     Courtrooms #1 & #2                                         REPORT NO.  6
                          Mercer County Courthouse
                          Mercer, Pennsylvania

DATE   August, 10, 2000   TIME   2:00 p.m.

PRESENT AT MEETING   Pat Summers - Easily & Rivers, Plasterer Superintendent
Lou DeJulia - Mercer County Maintenance
                                                Robert A. Mastriana - 4M Company

NOTES

  • Bob met with Lou to inspect the progress of the work. Easily & Rivers had scaffolding delivered and were starting to erect it. Pat Summers of Easily & Rivers said two latherers were coming Tuesday to begin the plaster beams wire framing. We were not pleased with this information since that is going to delay the completion of the plaster work. Lou and Bob requested the latherers start working on Friday and work through the weekend so by Monday the actual plaster can begin. This could save a considerable amount of time and keep the work on schedule. Bob called Doug at Wallace Builders to try to schedule this with Easily & Rivers. Because of the type of plaster being used for the decorative beams, they can be painted after only a couple of days of curing which will help expedite the completion of their work.
  • The painters have completed most of their work in Courtroom #I and Wallace Builders has completed most of their steel work and have started erecting the steel in Courtroom #2.
  • Bob and Lou took Commissioner Gene Brenneman on a personal tour of the work in the courtrooms to show him the progress.

NOTES

  • Lou and Bob met to review the progress of the construction. The plasterers were completing the scratch coat on the wire lath form work for the decorative plaster beam that was removed in Courtroom #2. The finish coat should be completed by Friday in Courtroom #2 along with the lath and scratch coat of plaster in Courtroom #2) s ceiling beam. All the steel work has been completed except where the new plaster beams are located.
  • It is anticipated that by next Wednesday all plaster work will be done so that the courtrooms can be put back together and all the walls) flooring, furniture, etc., can be cleaned.
  • It was also requested by the Judges that they would like their individual chambers professionally cleaned along with their courtrooms due to all the construction debris.
  • Wallace Builders has gotten an estimate to clean the courtrooms and will get an additional estimate for their individual chambers. The cleaning is tentatively scheduled for the week of August 28th with completion by Labor Day.

NOTES

  1. Bob went to the courtrooms to inspect the work. Since only the finish work remains, the work men are working days instead of evenings.

  2. Electricians need to finish ceiling lights in Courtroom #2 and check wiring on bailiffs bench to make sure everything is operating due to damage caused by beam collapse.

  3. The plaster scratch coat is starting now that the wire lath is complete in Courtroom #2. Plasterers should be starting finish molding plaster on beams in both courtrooms in the next couple of days.

  4. Wallace Builders is having Greenville Lumber re-build bailiff bench's wood top and moldings so it can be finished to match existing woodwork. Painters should finish their work by next Friday.

  5. Bob talked to Denny Salmon of Wallace Builders to verify completion of work. Next Thursday and Fri- day, they are going to clean the Judges' chambers and then on Monday start in the courtrooms. The cost of cleaning the Judges' chambers is $750 each x 2 = $1500. The cost to clean the courtrooms is $4700. The total cost is $6200, which mayor may not be able to be absorbed in the original time & material budget. We won't know for sure until all the costs are complete.

  6. Bob met with Rick Boggs to discuss contracts and have them placed on the agenda for the next Commissioners' meeting to approve and sign so that when work is completed at the end of the month, they can be paid.
