NOTES
There was much discussion with Lou, Denny and Bob regarding
Keystone's additional work authorization, and after a conference call to John
Thiry at Keystone, we decided on the following:
- The North portico additional cleaning is projected to be
$2,767.00 of which we felt approximately $500.00 was acceptable. The
West portico additional cleaning is projected to be $3.049.00 which
we felt was fair due to the extensive number of cleanings required and the
difficulty the West portico entailed.
- Regarding possible overtime wages - 8 man days projected
for overtime was figured which is approximately $1,000.00. We decided to
delay approving this until we see what time is actually incurred.
- Applying two coats of Miracote to the West portico columns
and bases is necessary due to the continual bleeding of the iron oxide and
the unsightly appearance of the columns. The projected cost of 2.000.00
is to be approved.
- Keystone estimated 60 buckets of Jahn stone restorer in
their original proposal, however 30 additional buckets were needed. The estimate
was based on 1/2" deep patches with 1/4" waste. Extensiveness of
the depth of the patches was unknown at that time. The estimate was accurate
as far as area takeoffs, however the depth of the patches was much greater
than anticipated. We felt that we should share equally in this additional
cost so we agreed to pay $3.000.00.
- The total work authorization presented by Keystone is
$15,000.00 plus the contractors mark-up of 10% which totals $16,500. The
amount we negotiated, which all parties feel is fair, is $8,549.00 plus a
10% mark-up for Wallace Builders of $851.00. Thus the total change order #2
to be entered into with Wallace Builders in the future regarding Keystone,
not including any overtime, is $9,400.00 which saves the county approximately
$7,100.00.
