NOTES

WEST PORTICO

WALLACE BUILDERS

  • The length of time budgeted for scaffolding on the West portico has elapsed.
  • The installation of the scaffolding was started on Thursday, June 10, 1999 and completed on Monday, June 13, 1999. The two months rental time period in Wallace's proposal is now costing an additional $80.00 -$100.00 per day. Wallace is going to monitor the situation and see if the upper sections of the scaffolding can be removed as soon as the masonry sealer is completed to help reduce the daily expense. He will try to absorb this cost as long as possible.

KEYSTONE WATERPROOFING

  • Keystone is continuing with the Jahn stone restoration of the West portico columns. The patches will need to have some graining done with stain to replicate the stone coloration of the Columns after they get the final cleaning with the manganese iron oxide remover.
  • Keystone is approximately 50% completed on the masonry re-pointing.

EASLEY & RIVERS

  • Easley & Rivers have two latherers working on the plaster forms for the ceiling porticos and will have tile plasterers begin the molding plaster next week on the West portico ceiling.

ROOF RITE

  • Roof Rite fixed the West portico scuppers and downspouts Monday. The Southwest one had to be taken back to tile shop because the repairs were more extensive than could be done in the field. Roof Rite will reinstall this downspout possibly Thursday. The downspouts split because the drain lines were filled with debris and caused the water in the lines to sit and freeze. Lou has cleaned out the drain lines to eliminate this problem in the future.

FEDERAL IRON WORKS

  • The shop drawings of the historic railings were reviewed with Lou and Jerry and the changes that we previously discussed with Federal Iron were approved. Bob will call Ed Sferra to get the shop drawings resubmitted.

ITEMS TO VERIFY

  • The next meeting is Thursday, August 12, 1999 at 10:00 a.m.

NOTES

WEST PORTICO

ROOF RITE

  • Bill Cruciger and Bob Mastriana met to discuss the completion of the repair and re-installation of the downspouts on the West portico. Hill asked if he should seal the drain lines around the downspouts at grade with a concrete cap to fuI1ller prevent debris from getting in the drain lines. This was approved. Fixing the downspouts and scuppers should prevent further deterioration and staining of the stone walls and foundation at this portico.

EASLEY & RIVERS

  • Easley & Rivers latherers are continuing working on the plaster forms for the portico ceiling.

KEYSTONE WATERPROOFING

  • Keystone Waterproofing is continuing with the column repairs and the stone repointing. Bob talked with Kevin about fixing some areas of the repointing where the stone is chipped. These areas need repaired with Jahn stone restoration material rather than filled with grout because it makes the joint look uneven and ragged. Kevin will correct this.

FEDERAL IRON WORKS

  • Bob talked with Ed Sferra about the details for the historic railing. The revised shop drawings should be completed within a couple of days.

ITEMS TO VERIFY

  • The next meeting is Tuesday, August 17, 1999 at 10:00 a.m.

NOTES

WEST PORTICO

KEYSTONE WATERPROOFING

  • Silvio completed the installation of the sloped stone caps for pigeon control on the portico column capitals. They should prevent the pigeons from roosting on the ledges. The minimal offset along the beams is the only area left for roosting on the portico. We will monitor it if roosting occurs there, but Lou doesn't feel any additional devices will be necessary such as a portland cement plaster sloped sill.

EASLEY & RIVERS

  • Easley & Rivers will start the finish portland cement plastering of the portico ceiling Thursday since the lathing has been completed.

ROOF RITE

  • Lou and Bob reviewed Roof Rite's invoice for the downspout repairs and will ask Bill Cruciger to be present at the next job meeting to go over the work.

NORTH PORTICO

EASLEY & RIVERS

  • Lou and Bob discussed the extensive plaster molding repairs at the portico and will ask Chip Smith to also be present at the next job meeting.

NORTH AND WEST PORTICOS

FEDERAL IRON WORKS

  • On Friday at 10:00 a.m., Bob is meeting with Ed Sferra at Federal Iron Works to finalize the details of the historic railings so they can begin the fabrication.

ITEMS TO VERIFY

  • On Tuesday, August 24, 1999 at 9:30 a.m. there will be an important job meeting with Jahn Stone specialists and Keystone regarding the continual bleeding of the iron through the stone columns.

  • The next meeting is Thursday, August 19, 1999 at 10:00 a.m.
