DATE
September 28, 1999 TIME 9:00 a.m.
PRESENT AT MEETING Doug
Wallace - Wallace Builders
Denny Salmon - Wallace Builders
Lou
DeJulia - Mercer County Maintenance
Bob
Mastriana - 4M Company
NOTES
WEST PORTICO
-
The center concrete beam was totally
deteriorated. In fact, only 5 rebars that were 80% rusted were supporting
the center of the portico. The condition of the structural reinforced
concrete slab was so badly deteriorated that eventually it would have
collapsed. It was actually in worse shape than the North portico slab which
everyone was aware needed to be replaced. Because there is no access to the
underneath side of the portico, this could not be foreseen.
-
An additional benefit, beside tile safely of
tile public, that resulted due to tile slab being removed was that tile
foundation stones could now be reset where tile ice and water penetration
had caused them to shift.
-
The reinforcing and structural framing was
completed on Monday and the new concrete deck was poured Tuesday morning.
-
Keystone has received tile Miracote material
for tile columns and steps and will schedule coating tile columns this
week.
-
Keystone will also finish cleaning,
repairing, repointing and sealing tile foundations by tile end of next week.
NORTH PORTICO
-
Tuesday afternoon tile foundation stones on
the front piers are being reset.
-
Wednesday the demolition of tile concrete
deck will begin.
-
The interior scaffold has been removed and
Wallace Builders are awaiting tile removal of tile exterior scaffolding which should
be by the end of tile week. This will not delay tile demolition of tile
deck.

REPORT NO. 29
Mercer
County Courthouse
Mercer,
Pennsylvania
DATE September 30, 1999 TIME
10:00 a.m.
PRESENT AT MEETING Olivia Lazor - Mercer County Commissioner
Rick
Boggs - Chief Clerk
Jerry
Johnson - Chairman of Courthouse Restoration Committee
Lou DeJulia - Mercer County Maintenance
Bob
Mastriana - 4M Company
NOTES
NORTH PORTICO
-
Lou DeJulia and Bob Mastriana took Commissioner
Lazor and Rick Boggs on a personal tour of the North portico so they could
view the demolition and the deteriorated conditions of the structural slab.
Everyone agreed the more that's uncovered the more evident of the timeliness
of these needed repairs.
-
The demolition is progressing in the evenings
so as to not disturb the operations of the Courthouse.
-
Both foundation stones have been reset plumb
ready for mortaring in place.
-
By the end of next week the concrete slab
should be completed and Keystone will begin their final work.
WEST PORTICO
-
Keystone will begin to Miracote the columns
Tuesday morning prior to our job meeting so we can be present to approve the
color and texture. Tom Auel will also be present along with the three
specialists from Keystone who will be doing the work.
-
The foundation stones are drying out and the
coloration is improving daily.
-
Keystone will finish the foundation stonework
next week after the columns arc completed.
-
Two pigeons are trying to roost again at the
West portico on the only beam ledge left remaining which is less than
2" wide. If they continue, Keystone will be asked to install a tapered
stone ledge 12' -8" long on all 4 sides to eliminate this roosting
ledge.
-
Wallace is negotiating the final costs for the
plaster and scaffolding due to changes in the scope of work. The credits will
be reflected in a future change order.
-
The memorial garden committee approved the
redesign for the gardens and Bob and Lou will coordinate the installation with
Wallace Builders.
