NOTES
WEST & NORTH PORTICO
- Lou DeJulia and Bob Mastriana installed a sample decorative replacement
globe for the lampposts and Lou will have tile restoration committee view it
at their next Tuesday morning meeting.
- Bob called Keystone to try to expedite tile completion of their work. They
promised to be there next Monday with two (2) men to finish the foundations
and anything of their work remaining.
- Bob coordinated alternate paint colors with Wallace Builders to expedite
tile approval of tile samples.
- It appears not must progress is being made because of tile curing of tile
slabs. However, tile rest of tile work should be progressing more rapidly
next week.
- We redesigned tile base plates for tile railing installation for Federal
Iron to help distribute tile load since each railing for the North portico
weighs 2,280 pounds or approximately 1 ton.

NOTES
GENERAL
- Federal Iron must get the interior rotunda railings fixed
as soon as they complete the exterior portico railings. The county is very
concerned about their safety.
NORTH PORTICO
- The paint, PPG 416-2 Gravel Color, Eggshell Finish, was
chosen to paint the exterior wood trim for the courthouse. The painter
should start Wednesday.
- Keystone was completing the repair work on the steps in
preparation to apply the Miracote finish. Because the weather was mild, they
anticipated completing this work by Wednesday.
- Keystone was also completing the foundation grouting and
sealing.
- Wallace Builders will re-install the wall lanterns with the
electrician on Wednesday.
WEST PORTICO
- Youngstown Tile installed the Sonneborn waterproofing on
Monday and will begin the tile installation on Thursday. Normally it would
take two days, however, they will have to wait until the railings are
installed to complete their work because the tile must be cut around the
railing base plates.
- The railings are not completed yet so they will most likely
be installed next week.
- The replacement globe was viewed by the restoration
committee. They liked the color and texture, however, they felt that if a
round crackle finish globe could be found, that would be preferred over the
acorn shape since the original globes were round.

PRESENT AT MEETING Tom Auel - Arcon Specialties

Bob Mastriana - 4M Company
NOTES
GENERAL
- Bob Mastriana met with Rick Boggs and reviewed the photographs and slides
for the state historical society awards submittal. Rick will complete
the descriptive copy to coordinate with the pictures and will submit it by
the November 1st deadline.
NORTH & WEST PORTICO
- The painters removed the old wooden screens and started doing prep work on
the North portico window trim. The painting will begin this afternoon.
- Youngstown Tile & Terrazzo met at the 4M Company office later in the
day with Bob Mastriana to approve the grout samples which is Summitville
#962 Natural Grout Color.
- Tom Auel met with Lou DeJulia and Bob Mastriana and tested the moisture
content of the stone. All the lower base stone is saturated. We
need to control and stop the moisture from the stone to dry it out.
The only way this can possibly be accomplished is though a process known an
chemical rising damp control. This is a process where special chemical
is infused in the stone and creates a chemical barrier to rising damp.
Rising damp is the vertical movement of water though capillaries in masonry
until the point of saturation and evaporation are equalized. Tom
will discuss this approach to the problem and the probable costs with one of
the few contractors nationally who specializes in this technique.
- Tom is also verifying the coloration of the Miracote sample versus the actual
base material made the sample we based our decision on is lighter and less
green then the Miracote appears on the columns.
