NOTES
- Scaffolding is almost complete, should be finished by Tuesday afternoon.
- Sample cleaning is still being finalized -problem with consistency and absorption of different stones. Some stones were quite nice and even, other stones had too much variation. Additional samples are being done as we waited with difference combinations of
chemicals. Use Miracote repair mortar for depressions greater than 1/4" and then apply two coats Miracote finish. 1st application -940 iron and manganese, undiluted is acceptable. 2nd application -101A diluted with equal parts.
It is critical to try it is critical to try to pursue a single coat application for cleaning since that was what was budgeted for in the contract proposal.

NOTES
- Mortar pointing was reviewed with three (3)
different samples. The natural gray color was chosen to blend in best with the
limestone color. The mortar chosen was Brickmix N mortar as manufactured by
Riverton Mortar Corp., Riverton, V.A.
- Several additional cleaning samples were
reviewed and the two (2) coat application utilizing two (2) different chemicals
was preferred and approved. The approved test sample is on tl1e interior comer
of the north portico foundation wall facing west.
- The 1st application is Diedrich 940 iron
& manganese stain remover undiluted. Provide a 30 minute dwell time. The 2nd
application is Diedrich 101G cleaning solution diluted with equal parts of
water. After applying provide a 10 minute dwell time then lightly rinse to clean
away the embedded dirt in the bedding planes.
- Because the two (2) coat application
exceeds the original specification. and proposal for a single coat application,
all the contractors will try to work together to off-set this additional labor
and material cost for the benefit of the county.
