- Are you going to be 18 on or before Nov. 8?
- Are you a U.S. Citizen?
- Have you been a resident of Mercer County and Pennsylvania for at least 30 days before the next election?
- Have you voted in the past 8 years? (*Voters can go up to eight years in PA without voting before their record is cancelled)
If you can answer yes to these three questions, you are eligible to register to vote. But first you must be registered in order to cast a ballot on Nov. 8. Registering to vote has never been easier in Pennsylvania as it can be accomplished electronically or on paper. To register electronically, please go to www.votespa.com. Paper voter registration applications can be found at the Mercer County Courthouse, and at local post offices, municipal buildings and libraries across the county. If you are on active duty in the military, or you are a hospitalized or bedridden veteran, you can register at any time. See www.fvap.gov for more information.
If you are uncertain whether you are registered or not, please go to https://www.pavoterservices.state.pa.us/Pages/voterregistrationstatus.aspx. If you cannot find your name here and believe you are registered, please call the Mercer County Bureau of Elections at 724-662-7542 and we will quickly be able to verify your status. Again, the deadline to do this in order to vote this November is Oct. 11.
