The Mercer County Tax Claim Bureau is responsible for the collection of all delinquent real estate taxes for 12 school districts and the 48 City, Township and Boroughs situate in Mercer County, Pennsylvania.

            PLEASE NOTE:  The Mercer County Tax Claim Bureau does not collect current year real estate taxes.  All current year real estate taxes should be paid to the Local Tax Collector for your district.

            Real Estate Taxes are considered to be delinquent if not paid in full by December 31st of the current year.   Any unpaid taxes are returned to the Tax Claim Bureau by January 15th and are assessed with a filing fee of $15.00 per Tax Claim.     Interest begins to accrue in February at a rate of 9% annually.

           

TAX LIEN CERTIFICATIONS

            A Tax Lien Certificate may be requested for a fee of $10.00 per parcel.   A request for a Tax Claim Certificate may be made online, in person or by mail.  If submitting your request by mail, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope along with a check or money order in the amount of $10.00 per parcel.   Every attempt will be made to process this request on the date it is received.  All requests for Tax Lien Certifications must contain a Map/Parcel Number and/or Control Number. 

 

 

 

PAYMENT OF DELIQUENT TAXES

            Payment of delinquent taxes may be made in Cash, Money Order, Certified Check, Bank Check or Credit Card.  There is a 2.95% convenience fee for credit card payments in the office.

            The Mercer County Tax Claim Bureau does not accept payments over the phone.

            You may also pay your delinquent taxes online @ www.paylocalgov.com/mercercounty-pa

You must enter the above website in the address bar, at the very top of your computer, you cannot Google the website.  You will need your WEB ID to make a payment by credit card or debit card.  The WEB ID appeared on all mailings or postings in 2023.  If you do not have your WEB ID you may call our office and we will assist you.

2024 UPSET TAX SALE

The 2024 Upset Tax Sale will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 @ 9:00 a.m. at the Penn State Extension County Office, 463 N Perry Highway, Mercer, Pennsylvania  16137. 

The 2024 Continued Upset Tax Sale will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 @ 9:00 a.m. in the Assembly Room located on the ground floor of the Mercer County Courthouse.

The Tax Sale Advertisement will appear in the Mercer County Law Journal on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, and in the Herald and Record Argus on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, IF 2022 TAXES ARE NOT PAID BY JULY 5, 2024.
